Don Miguel Ruiz

Don Miguel Ruiz (born 1957) studied medicine and worked as a surgeon, reportedly also as a neurosurgeon in Tijuana. A near-death experience following a car accident led him to devote himself more deeply to the teachings of his ancestors and to spiritual questions. His book *The Four Agreements*, first published in 1997, became an international bestseller. In his books and teachings, Ruiz draws particularly on Toltec traditions and ideas about personal freedom and authentic living.
