Dominique Venner

Dominique Venner (1935–2013) was a French political activist, publisher, and author of historical and political works. He served in the French army during the Algerian War from 1954 to 1956. In 1961, he took part in the Generals’ Putsch against Charles de Gaulle and was sentenced to imprisonment for his activities with the underground Organisation de l’Armée Secrète (OAS). After his release, he founded the journal »Europe-Action«, which is regarded as an influence on the Nouvelle Droite associated with Alain de Benoist. From the 1970s onward, Venner focused primarily on historical and political books, writing more than 50 works. His notable publications include »Baltikum«, published in German as »Söldner ohne Sold«, and a history of the French Resistance. In 2002, he founded »La Nouvelle Revue d’Histoire«, serving as its editor until his death.
