Dolly Parton (born 1946) is a country singer, songwriter, and author. She was born the fourth of twelve children and has performed as a musician since the 1970s. In 1971, she released the successful song “Coat of Many Colors.” Parton has written more than 3,000 songs, received several Grammy Awards, and been nominated for Academy Awards. In addition to her music career, she has written books, founded the Dollywood theme park, and established the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to promote children’s access to books.
