James Patterson

James Patterson, born in 1947 in Newburgh, New York, is an American author. He studied English literature at Manhattan College and Vanderbilt University, then worked for many years as a creative director at a major New York advertising agency. He is best known for his thrillers featuring profiler Alex Cross and for the Women’s Murder Club series featuring Detective Lindsay Boxer. Patterson received an Edgar Award for his debut novel. His other honors include ten Emmys and the National Humanities Medal. He also regularly publishes books in collaboration with other authors or public figures.
