Dietmar Pieper

Dietmar Pieper (born 1963) studied literary studies, German literature, comparative literature and philosophy. He worked for the news magazine Der Spiegel from 1989, including as one of the heads of its German Politics department from 2001 to 2008. He subsequently headed the magazine series Spiegel Geschichte and Spiegel Wissen and worked as a reporter in the foreign affairs department. He edited several nonfiction books, including Die Reformation, Das Reich der Deutschen, Karl der Große and Die Herrschaft der Zaren.
