David Bohm (1917–1992) was an American physicist and professor of theoretical physics at Birkbeck College, University of London. He made important contributions to quantum mechanics and developed the theory known as Bohmian mechanics, an interpretation of quantum mechanics involving nonlocal hidden variables. He also explored questions concerning consciousness, reality, and order. His works include *Wholeness and the Implicate Order*, *Causality and Chance in Modern Physics*, and *Thought as a System*; *The Undivided Universe* was written with Basil Hiley.
