Daniil Granin

Daniil Granin (1919–2017) studied electrical engineering and initially worked as an engineer. In 1941, he volunteered for military service. From 1949 onward, he published numerous novels, many of which were translated into German. Together with Ales Adamovich, he wrote *The Blockade Book* in 1987 about the Siege of Leningrad. On January 27, 2014, he delivered a speech in the German Bundestag commemorating its victims.
