Clive Cussler

Clive Cussler (1931–2020) was an American writer. In 1973, he created Dirk Pitt, the protagonist of numerous adventure novels. In 1979, he founded the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), an organization dedicated to discovering, exploring, and preserving shipwrecks. Cussler’s books combined adventure, maritime themes, and historical mysteries.
