Claudia Hammerschmidt

Claudia Hammerschmidt studied at the universities of Cologne, Bordeaux and Buenos Aires. In 1999, she received her doctorate with a dissertation on Guillermo Cabrera Infante; in 2006, she completed her habilitation with a study of D’Urfé, Rousseau and Proust. She published numerous articles on Latin American literature, particularly on Cabrera Infante, whose works she also translated into German. From 2009 to 2011, she was professor of Romance literatures at the University of Trier. In 2011, she took up a professorship in Romance literatures at Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
