Claire Messud

Claire Messud, born in 1966, is an American-Australian-Canadian author. She grew up in the United States, Canada, and Australia and studied at Yale University and the University of Cambridge. Her debut novel, When the World Was Steady, was published in 1995. Her notable works include The Emperor’s Children, The Burning Girl, and Wunderland. Messud has been longlisted for the Man Booker Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award. She has received Guggenheim and Radcliffe Fellowships as well as the Straus Living Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
