Christiane Landgrebe, born in 1947, studied Romance languages and literature, theology, and philosophy. She worked as an editor at several publishing houses and translated novels and nonfiction from French and Italian. She also wrote books on historical and contemporary-history subjects, including biographies of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Denis Diderot, and Madame Roland. Authors whose works she translated include Elie Wiesel, Henri Alain-Fournier, and Philippe Claudel.
