Christian Metz

Christian Metz, born in 1975, is a German literary scholar and critic. After studying or working at Cornell University, he received an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellowship at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and worked as a research associate at Goethe University Frankfurt. He earned his doctorate with a study of the narratology of love and completed his habilitation with a study of the human sensation of tickling. His publications include “Poetisch denken. Die Lyrik der Gegenwart” (2018), “Kitzel” (2020), and “Beugung. Poetik der Dokumentation” (2020). He has written literary criticism for the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” and Deutschlandfunk. In 2020, he received the Alfred Kerr Prize for Literary Criticism.
