Charles Jackson

Charles Jackson was born in 1903 in Summit, New Jersey, and grew up in Arcadia, New York. His literary debut, the novel *The Lost Weekend*, was published in 1944 and quickly became a bestseller. Billy Wilder adapted the work for the screen in 1945, starring Ray Milland and Jane Wyman; the film received four Academy Awards in 1946. Jackson died in 1968 at New York’s Chelsea Hotel from a Seconal overdose.
