Bruce Coville, born in 1950 in Syracuse, New York, is an American author of children’s books. As a child, he was particularly fond of the stories about Dr. Dolittle and decided to become a writer. He first studied for a year at Duke University, sold cookware, worked on an assembly line, and became an elementary school teacher. In 1977, he published his first children’s book, The Foolish Giant. He wrote more than 60 children’s books in total.
