Boris Lurie

Boris Lurie (1924–2008) was a visual artist and writer born in Leningrad. As a Jew, he survived several forced-labor and concentration camps together with his father. He emigrated to New York in 1946 and co-founded the NO!art movement in 1959. In provocative collages, sculptures, and texts, often with direct reference to the Shoah, he engaged with advertising, politics, and the consumer culture of his time. His work was exhibited in the United States and Germany, among other places.
