Bill Bryson

Bill Bryson, born in 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa, is an American author. He moved to Great Britain in 1977 and worked there for several years as a journalist, including for The Times and The Independent. His breakthrough came with the book about England, *Notes from a Small Island* (German: *Reif für die Insel*). Bryson has published travel writing and other nonfiction, and his books have been translated into many languages and become international bestsellers.
