Bernhard Maier

Bernhard Maier, born in 1963, studied religious studies, Celtic studies, Indo-European linguistics and Semitic studies in Freiburg im Breisgau, Aberystwyth and Bonn. After earning a doctorate in religious studies in 1989 and completing his habilitation in 1998, he was Reader and Professor of Celtic at the University of Aberdeen from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, he was appointed Professor of Religious Studies and European History of Religions at the University of Tübingen. In 2000, he received the Prize of the Philological Class of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences. His works include *The Religion of the Celts*, *The Religion of the Germanic Peoples* and *The Conversion of the World*.
