Bernd Kiefer

Bernd Kiefer (born 1956) studied comparative literature, modern German literature and philosophy at the University of Mainz. He earned his doctorate with a dissertation on Walter Benjamin’s aesthetic theory of modernity and completed his habilitation in 2007 with the study “Passagen der Moderne. Studien zur neueren Filmgeschichte und Filmästhetik.” Kiefer worked as an academic councillor at the University of Mainz’s institute for film and cultural studies. He authored and edited numerous publications on film and media history, including the book “Jean-Luc Godard” (2011).
