Bernardine Evaristo

Bernardine Evaristo, born in London in 1959, is a British-Nigerian writer. In 2019, she became the first Black author to win the Booker Prize, for her novel *Girl, Woman, Other*. Her other works include the memoir *Manifesto: On Never Giving Up* (2022), the novel *Mr Loverman* (2023), and *Zuleika* (2024). Evaristo also founded the first theatre company for Black women in the United Kingdom.
