Bernardin Schellenberger, born in 1944, was initially a Franciscan novice and subsequently lived for about 15 years as a Trappist monk according to the Rule of Saint Benedict. From 1975, he served as a novice master. He then worked for around ten years as a pastoral minister in a parish. Later, he worked as a freelance writer, translator, lecturer, and course leader. He published numerous books on spirituality and spiritual life, translating monastic experience into guidance for life outside the monastery.
