Beda Allemann (1926–1991) was a German literary scholar and Germanist. He studied German literature, philosophy and art history, received his doctorate in 1953 under Emil Staiger, and completed his habilitation in Zurich in 1955. He subsequently taught in Berlin, Paris, Leiden and Kiel. From 1967, he was Professor of Modern German Literary History at the University of Bonn; he also held visiting professorships in Israel and the United States. His numerous publications and essays addressed literature and poetics from the 18th to the 20th century, with particular attention to Hölderlin, Goethe, Kleist, Kafka and Rilke.
