Barbi Markovic

Barbi Marković, born in Belgrade in 1980, studied German at universities in Belgrade and Vienna and worked as an editor at the Belgrade-based Rende publishing house. Her debut novel, “Ausgehen,” a Thomas Bernhard remix, was published in 2009. It was followed by works including “Superheldinnen” (2016), “Die verschissene Zeit” (2021), and “Minihorror” (2023). In addition to novels, Marković wrote short stories, plays, and radio dramas. Her awards include the Literaturpreis Alpha, the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize sponsorship award, the Reinhard Priessnitz Prize, and the Carl Amery Literature Prize. In 2024, she received the Leipzig Book Fair Prize for “Minihorror.”
