Axel Salheiser

Axel Salheiser is a sociologist. From 2002 to 2019, he conducted research and taught at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. In February 2022, he became scientific director of the Institute for Democracy and Civil Society (IDZ) Jena and spokesperson for the Jena section of the Research Center for Social Cohesion (FGZ). His research focuses include right-wing extremism, right-wing populism, and threats to democratic culture. Salheiser has co-edited scholarly volumes on elites and democracy and has co-authored numerous academic publications.
