Axel Kleidon

Axel Kleidon studied physics at the University of Hamburg and Purdue University in the United States and earned a doctorate in meteorology. After spending several years in the United States, he took over the leadership of an independent research group at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in 2006. He was also a Privatdozent at the University of Jena. His research areas include the thermodynamics of the Earth system, climate and climate change, interactions between life and the climate system, and the limits of renewable energy.
