Astrid H. Roemer, born in 1947 in Paramaribo, Suriname, is a Dutch-language writer. She published plays, poetry and numerous novels addressing themes including home, family, identity and postcolonial politics. In 2016, she received the P.C. Hooft Prize for her collected works. In 2021, she became the first person of color to receive the Prijs der Nederlandse Letteren, the most important literary award for authors writing in Dutch. Among her notable works is the novel *Gebroken Wit* (2019), published in German as *Gebrochen-Weiß*.
