Anton Kaes

Anton Kaes (born 1945) is a German scholar of German studies and film. He served as Chancellor Professor of German and Film Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. His research has focused on Weimar cinema and culture, New German Cinema, German literature, film theory, the avant-garde, trauma and memory, and media archaeology. Kaes has published numerous books on multidisciplinary and comparative aspects of film history and theory.
