Annemarie Gethmann-Siefert

Annemarie Gethmann-Siefert (born 1945) is a German philosopher. She studied philosophy, art history and theology at the universities of Münster, Bonn, Innsbruck and Bochum. She received her doctorate in 1973 with a dissertation on Martin Heidegger and completed her habilitation in 1982 at Ruhr University Bochum with a study of Hegel’s aesthetics. In 1991, she became a professor of philosophy at the FernUniversität in Hagen. Her work has included philosophical aesthetics and theories of art, anthropology and medical ethics, philosophy of religion, the history of philosophy, and German Idealism. She is married to the philosopher Carl Friedrich Gethmann.
