Anna Freud (1895–1982) was an Austrian-British psychoanalyst and the daughter of Sigmund Freud. After completing her psychoanalytic training in Vienna, she directed the Vienna Psychoanalytic Institute from 1935 to 1938. She emigrated to Great Britain in 1938, where she founded and directed the Hampstead Nurseries during the Second World War. From 1952, she led the Hampstead Child-Therapy Clinic and its training course. Her work focused particularly on the psychoanalysis and treatment of children.
