Anika Sawatzki was born in 1990 in the Altmark region of Germany. From 2017 onward, she published thrillers through self-publishing and also wrote horror short stories that appeared in various anthologies. The first volume of her Siebenschläfer trilogy was published in 2019 and made the longlist for the tolino media Newcomer Award in 2021. An early story from the series had already appeared in a fan anthology by the band Letzte Instanz in 2013.
