Angelika Overath, born in Karlsruhe in 1957, studied German and history. She worked as a writer, reporter, literary critic and lecturer. Her publications include the novels *Nahe Tage*, *Flughafenfische*, *Sie dreht sich um*, *Ein Winter in Istanbul* and *Unschärfen der Liebe*, as well as essays, literary reportage and poetry. She received the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize for literary reportage and was also awarded, among other distinctions, the Ernst Willner Prize.
