Angela Winkler

Angela Winkler (born 1944 in Templin, Germany) is a German actress. She had her breakthrough in the title role of Volker Schlöndorff’s »The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum«, for which she received an award in 1975. She gained international recognition as the mother of Oskar Matzerath in Schlöndorff’s »The Tin Drum«. Her other films include Margarethe von Trotta’s »Heller Wahn«, along with numerous television productions. Winkler worked at Berlin’s Schaubühne and with directors including Peter Stein, Peter Zadek, Klaus-Michael Grüber, Luc Bondy, and Robert Wilson. In 2011, she released a debut album of chansons and also contributed as a voice performer to radio plays and audiobooks.
