Andrew Brown, born in Cape Town in 1966, is a South African author and lawyer. During apartheid, he was active in organizations including the United Democratic Front and was imprisoned several times. A lengthy prison sentence was overturned on appeal at the Cape High Court. Brown worked as a lawyer and also served as a reserve police officer. His novel Schlaf ein, mein Kind received the Sunday Times Fiction Prize, appeared on Germany’s KrimiWelt bestseller list, and was honored with a major South African literary prize. Würde was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize.
