Andreas Becker

Andreas Becker is a German scholar of film and media studies. He studied at Philipps-Universität Marburg and received his doctorate from the Institute of Theatre, Film and Media Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt. From 2007 to 2014, he worked there as a research associate. He subsequently headed the DFG project “Yasujirō Ozu and Western Film” until 2016, before taking up a position at Keio University in Tokyo. His research focuses on Japanese and Western film, the representation of time in film, comparative aesthetics, and the phenomenology of film. His publications include “Erzählen in einer anderen Dimension. Zeitdehnung und Zeitraffung im Spielfilm” (2012).
