Amelie Fried, born in Ulm in 1958, first became known as a television presenter and also worked as a journalist, including on the talk show »3 nach 9«. She later published novels, nonfiction and children’s books. Her novels include »Traumfrau mit Nebenwirkungen«, »Am Anfang war der Seitensprung«, »Der Mann von nebenan« and »Rosannas Tochter«, several of which, along with other works, were adapted for television. In 1998, she received the German Youth Literature Prize for the children’s book »Hat Opa einen Anzug an?«, illustrated by Jacky Gleich. Together with her husband, Peter Probst, she also wrote nonfiction books such as »Verliebt, verlobt – verrückt?«.
