Her bestselling debut novel, *Beeren pflücken*, won the Barnes & Noble Discover Prize and the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction and was nominated for the Amazon First Novel Award. Peters earned a degree in creative writing from the University of Toronto and completed a Master of Fine Arts program at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe.
