Alexander Deeg

Alexander Deeg (born 1972) is a German Protestant theologian and pastor. He studied Protestant theology and Jewish studies in Erlangen and Jerusalem. He received his doctorate in 2005 for a study of preaching in Jewish-Christian dialogue and completed his habilitation in 2011 with a work on the theological foundations of Protestant worship. Deeg taught practical theology at Leipzig University and headed the Liturgical Studies Institute of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany (VELKD). From 2009 to 2011, he directed the EKD Centre for Protestant Preaching Culture. From 2012 to 2017, he was involved in the revision of the lectionary.
