Alex Gino was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. Gino is best known for the novel “George,” which grew out of personal experience and the desire to offer transgender children an encouraging story. The book received, among other honors, the Stonewall Book Award, LovelyBooks’ 2016 Silberner Leserpreis, and the Lesepeter in July 2017. In 2017, “George” was also selected as a favorite by the Leipzig Youth Jury.
