Alasdair Campbell, also known as Alasdair Caimbeul, was born in 1941 and grew up in Ness at the northern end of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. He wrote numerous plays, short stories and novels in Gaelic. His works published in English include The Nessman (2000) and Visiting the Bard (2003).
