Adam Thirlwell was born in London in 1978. He is the author of the novels *Strategy*, *Miss Herbert*, *Grell und Süß* and *The Further Future*; his work has been translated into 30 languages. He was included in Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists lists in 2003 and 2013, and received the Somerset Maugham Award in 2008. Thirlwell served as the London editor of the *Paris Review* and was an S. Fischer visiting professor alongside Daniel Kehlmann. With Hans Ulrich Obrist and Rem Koolhaas, he also developed *Studio Créole*, a performance series about translation.
