Reviewed by ZwitschiThe premise was really good, but it failed to deliver for me. It's about an assassin assigned to kill a vampire attempting to conquer her kingdom. However, if you've read the previous books, you likely already know how it ends. I would have preferred a story where Sylina was more actively involved in killing people throughout the book. The characters were good, and the Archessen were a particularly intriguing faction. I would have appreciated seeing more of their activities. If you liked the other books, you will probably like this as well. I didn't, and I don't.

I loved it back then so far, I really enjoyed her writing style! Sylina, the FMC in this book is really good, I loved how strong she was, considering her background, and the life she lived. I loved her magical powers, it was really something new, at least to me. The male MC, Atrius, the vampire hottie, the type of "touch her and I will kill you" kind of guy. At first he seemed to be bad, but later on, he acts out of truly good reasons, ! enjoyed that a lot. Love villains with a soft heart!!

I know this book is a standalone novel in the Nyaxia series, but it was so different- much more political uns about the wars and soldiers. But I really enjoyed the politics, and the cult of Arachessen was so interesting. Sylina and Attrius were also very lovable characters, and their actions were relatable because of their dark past. Their romance wasn't the main focus of this book, which I also really enjoyed. I cannot wait to see them again in the following books.
