Reviewed by LucyI put off reading the Percy Jackson series for ages, but I finally started it – and I was honestly really surprised in the best way! The first book was super entertaining, funny, and easy to read. You can tell it’s written for a younger audience, but that didn’t take away from the reading experience at all. As a big fan of Greek mythology, I had a lot of fun recognizing the gods, demigods, and creatures – a lot of it felt familiar, but it was all presented in such a creative and modern way that it still felt fresh. What I especially liked was how Rick Riordan gave these mythological figures real personalities and relatable issues without making it feel silly. A really great start to the series.
