Ich muss sagen, dass das Buch auf seine eigene Art und Weise faszinierend ist. An die Herangehensweise, dass eine gekürzte Fassung eines Buchs von einem fiktiven Autor zugrunde liegt, welcher von einem Surrogate Autoren kommentiert wird, musste ich mich zunächst gewöhnen. Allerdings sind die Anmerkungen des Surrogate schon einigermaßen lustig und sie fügen sich angenehm zwischen die einzelnen Kapitel ein. Außerdem scheint die Handlung sich zwar an typischen Tropes lang zu hangeln (die 'tragische' Romanze zwischen Westley & Buttercup und die Rache als Motivation von Inigo), jedoch kommen einige tiefgründigere Themen auf, wie der Alkoholismus von Inigo und die Ausgrenzung von Fezzik aus Gründen des 'Andersseins'. Insgesamt ist das Buch empfehlenswert, da es wirklich spannende Passagen hat und der Inhalt stilistisch nett verpackt ist.
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." Both the book and the movie are a treasure.
