Reviewed by Raphaela Gerade haben Pendergast und Kollege Coldmoon den letzten Fall abgeschlossen, als sie auf der Heimreise abgefangen und zum nächsten Tatort verfrachtet werden. In Savannah treibt ein Serienmörder sein Unwesen. Schon zwei Tote wurden vollkommen blutleer aufgefunden. Hinter vorgehaltender Hand wird von einem Vampir gemunkelt und die Ermittlungen tappen vollkommen im Dunkeln. Im neuesten Pendergast Fall ist eine Menge los... Eine alte Flugzeugentführung, rätselhafte Morde, eine geheimnisvolle Hotelbesitzerin, ein unangenehmer Senator,der die ermittelnden Behörden untr Druck setzt, eine Filmcrew auf der Jagd nach dem neuen Netflix Hit, ein Journalist auf den Spuren der Filmcrew, um sein neuestes Skandalenthüllungsbuch zu schreiben... für meinen Geschmack ist es schon etwas zu viel. Die Handlungsstränge rund um den Senator und den Journalisten hätte man weglassen können. Die Haupthandlung hingegen findet mal wieder zu ganz alten Stärken zurück und lässt die Pendergastfans an die großen Tage Von Relic und Cabinet of Curiosities zurückdenken. Auch wenn ich zugegeben großen Gefallen an den ganz neuen Fällen mit dem Ermittlerduo finde, haben die älteren Bücher doch auch immer noch einen besonderen Platz in meinem Leserherz (während ich die schreckliche Helen Triologie am Liebsten aus dem Gedächtnis löschen würde). Und zudem erfüllt mir das Autorenduo mit diesem Roman einen tiefen und langgehegten Wunsch. Ich freue mich auf das nächste Abenteuer von Pendergast und Coldmoon, auch wenn ich weiß, dass das nächste Werk wieder ein Eintrag in der Kelly/Swanson Erzähllinie sein wird (ist schon vorbestellt). Interessant wäre auch eine Coldmoon Solonovel. Mal schauen, was mich als nächstes erwartet.
