Rezension von alexIt was the second horror book I‘ve read, horror was never my favorite genre and The Eyes Are the Best Part is most certainly very different from S. King’s Shining. Although it was partially a tad too horrific for me, the novel is amazingly well-written. It is an easy read to dive into and made me miss my university classes and teachers as I would love to analyze the novel thoroughly. Intertwining empowerment while battling misogny, racism, fetishization, and in my opinion classism, offers so much insight. Although the horror scenes are vividly described, the narrator does not appear to be too trustworthy which makes it difficult to differentiate between fantasy, dreams, and reality. I cannot wait to read other novels by Monika Kim.

Rezension von JessicaThis book was everything that it promised... it was shocking it was horror and it was gory to no end. I really like the wah the author manages to describe this almost manic obsessiv state that Ji-won is in. While I really liked the book and read it in about 5 hours total. I would have loved to get a reason for this obsession with eyes besides the fact that she is a little mentally unstable and psychotic. I can really recommend this to people who love reading gory things and are not easily disturbed.
