Rezension von Julia“Do you think we’re weird?” In 13 Kurzgeschichten erforscht Murata die Körperlichkeit unserer Gesellschaft: was verbieten wir uns? Wo stoppt Moral unseren Umgang mit den eigenen und fremden Körpern? Was machen wir mit toten Körpern? Welche Erwartungen haben wir an Körper? Und dabei entsteht für mich die Frage: wie seltsam ist es eigentlich einen Körper zu haben?! Wer Muratas Romane gelesen hat, wird nicht sonderlich überrascht sein, dass sie mit Schock, Ekel und Unkonventionalität ihre Ideen ausbreitet und damit unseren “Common Sense” herausfordert. Aber sie tut es wie immer so liebevoll, so quirky, trotzallem irgendwie behutsam. Und sie schreibt tolle Frauenfiguren, intensive Freundinnen- und Schwesternschaften, die sich nicht den Regeln beugen und die ausbrechen und die dabei nicht allein bleiben, sondern verstanden werden. Wer einen Vorgeschmack haben will, der lese zuerst „a Summer night‘s kiss“ und schnelle sich dann an für diese aufwühlende, atmosphärische Sammlung somewhere between vibrant and vile. „Feeling this life was a precious momentary illusion, I squeezed his slim fingers even tighter.” “All the humans on the bus, filled with righteousness, were reviling me. “And then we would start to live a wholesome existence together in this world teeming with life.” How Murata describes an orgasm: “And I had a dream of floating lightly in soap bubbles. I started feeling kind of wiggly, and then suddenly all the soap bubbles burst at once. And it felt as though all the veins in my body constricted, as if something inside my body had actually burst too. I was so surprised, I woke up. It was only a dream, but I felt a kind of numb sensation all over, and really refreshed.”
