Rezension von Yasaralike less then one star, I am so sorry but I just couldn't finish this book. I dnf it since the book is unnecessary drawn out. There is more of describing the surroundings then the actual story in my personal opinion.
Rezension von PaulaIch glaube, jede Person, die mich kennt und hier begleitet, weiß, dass ich mich wahnsinnig auf „Daughter of the Moon Goddess“ gefreut habe und es mir schon lange in den Fingerspitzen kribbelte, das Buch endlich zur Hand zu nehmen. Schluss endlich kann ich sagen: Ich mochte es. Aber…mehr leider auch nicht - das Feuerwerk an Emotionen, das ich mir insgeheim sehr erhofft hatte, blieb leider aus. Überzeugt hat mich das Buch vorrangig mit zwei Dingen: Dem Schreibstil und der Atmosphäre. Die vorsichtig gewählten Worte und die metaphorisch-verträumte Sprache haben mich von Anfang an bis zum Ende des Buchs hin extrem begeistert. Zusammen mit der chinesischen, von Sagen umwobenen Welt der Götter und Unsterblichen, in die wir mit Xingyin eintauchen, wurde eine unfassbar schöne sowie magische Atmosphäre erschaffen, in die ich so so gerne eingetaucht bin. Diese hat letztendlich auch die vergleichsweise deutlich schwächeren Aspekte des Buchs aufgefangen. So erschien es mir leider, als würde man durch die Geschichte hetzen und nur selten Gelegenheit haben, die schönen Momente zu genießen - wobei hinzu kommt, dass von der Fülle der Handlung, die das Buch bietet, ein sehr großer Teil nebensächlich erscheint. Außerdem blieben die Love-Interests durch das gesamte Buch hinweg sehr blass, weshalb ich vergebens nach der erhofften Tiefe gesucht habe und mich auch nicht richtig auf die Lovestory einlassen konnte. Dennoch: Für die Welt, die märchenhafte Melancholie und Xingyins abenteuerliche Reise habe ich das Buch gerne gelesen. Das Buch wirkte ziemlich abgeschlossen auf mich, deswegen bin ich schon sehr gespannt darauf, was mich in der Fortsetzung („Heart of the Sun Warrior“) erwarten wird!
