I love fairy tales and folklore and Leigh Bardugo has managed to make me feel like a little girl again; wrapped up in a blanket, opening her book of fairy tales from all around the world. The illustrations are enchanting and I love how you can watch them grow throughout the story until they are finally completed, creating a completely different picture than you would have thought at the beginning. The 6 separate fairy tales that Bardugo has written are an interesting mix of well-known fairy tales, set in the world of the Grishaverse. You can recognize the outlines of Beauty & the Beast, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel, The Nutcracker, The Blue Light, The Little Mermaid and many more - but all of them are paired with interesting twists that keep you glued to the page while reading and are almost impossible to predict. Bardugo's writing style is immersive, engaging, dark and eerie. But also fluid and eloquent, as if language were an equally wild beast that can only be tamed with magic. <i>It's like my adult self got a part of her childhood back.</i> I love everything about this book and would read 20 more of them if Leigh Bardugo ever decides to write another volume. Ein Buch voller märchenhafter Geschichten, die spannend und interessant, aber auch düster und teilweise grausam sind. Wer sich "Grishaverse"-Feeling erhofft, wird hier leider enttäuscht. Wer Lust auf gruselige Märchen hat, ist hier richtig.

Ein sehr schönes und düsteres Märchen Buch aus dem Grishaverse. Ich muss sagen, dass mir manche Geschichte besser gefallen haben als andere. Aber das ist bei solchen Sammlungen ja ganz normal. Generell fand ich die Geschichten sehr schön. Kurz und knackig aufgebaut aber trotzdem spannend. Das Buch ist eindeutig Fanservice, aber ich glaube, ich würde sogar noch eines dieser Art lesen ☺️
