Yours Truly: A charming and hilarious second-chance rom-com from the author of THE FRIEND ZONE
von Abby Jimenez
A novel of terrible first impressions, hilarious second chances, and the joy in finding your perfect match.Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter. And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who’s terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her “sob closet,” and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . . . especially when he calls in a favor she can’t refuse.

Das beste Buch, was ich dieses Jahr bisher gelesen habe, ich liebe es mit meinem ganzen Herzen!!!
Another enjoyable romance read by Abby Jimenez. The book deals with quite a few heavy topics, including miscarriage, abandonment issues, absent fathers, severe health issues, depression, and anxiety. However, for the most part, these subjects are well balanced with a lot of humor. I very much enjoyed the fake-dating plotline, as it became apparent quite early on that the protagonists cared deeply for and understood each other. However, there were several instances in which proper communication could have easily solved their issues, which was quite frustrating. Overall, a well-balanced romance novel. Would recommend.
Süß aber iwie sehr vorhersehbar (außer der kurze aber sehr traurige plot twist)
Ok apart from being hilarious and heart-warming, this story touched me on a whole different scale. The main character in this book, Jacob, has clinical anxiety and there were so many moments I really could relate to his urge to keep the control, stay in the comfort zone or feeling insecure in situations, others would describe as harmless. This made the book so much more personal for me and even though I am not struggling the way Jacob does, I do have social anxiety and so many times while reading I just felt very connected to him and his thoughts. The way Briana, our other main protagonist, deals with Jacob and takes care of him and his well-being effortlessly really touched me. She showed him so much understanding and acceptance and did not make him feel uncomfortable or put him in difficult situations. This really warmed my heart. I truly wish for a Briana for everyone that struggles with social anxiety. And her own trauma goes so deep I felt so heart-broken for her when I read about everything she had to went through alone. Jacob becomes her safe haven… and even if it’s only to fulfill her promise towards him. This book is truly romantic and beautifully written. I can highly recommend reading it!
