Opulent, atmosphärisch, magisch.« — KERRI MANISCALCO Titel: „The Hurricane Wars“ Autor*in: Thea Guanzon Verlag: LYX [ unbezahlte Werbung | ReziEx von NetGalley ] „The Hurricane Wars“ ist das Debut von Autorin Thea Guanzon und der Auftakt der magischen „The Hurricane Wars“-Trilogie. Es geht dabei um Talasyn, Findelkind und einzige noch lebende Lichtweberin. Mit ihrer Magie kämpft sie an vorderster Front gegen das Nachtimperium. Dort kreuzt ihre Klinge die von Alaric — Kronprinz des Nachtimperiums. Trotz dass sie verbittertste Feinde sind, knistert es zwischen ihnen wie verrückt. Und schon bald wird klar, dass ihre beiden Schicksale miteinander verwoben sind: Nur gemeinsam können sie eine mächtige Bedrohung aufhalten. Doch wie kann Talasyn sich mit dem Mann verbünden, der ihr so viel Leid gebracht hat — ganz gleich welche Gefühle er in ihr auslöst? Nachdem ich auf Bookstagram so viel über „The Hurricane Wars“ gesehen und gelesen habe, waren meine Erwartungen echt hoch. Schlussendlich kann ich sagen, dass zwar viele von ihnen erfüllt wurden, ich aber dennoch einige Kritikpunkte habe. Beginnen wir aber mit dem Cover: Das ist der WAHNSINN. Ich liebe es so sehr; die Farben, die Muster, die Schrift … Es passt einfach perfekt zum Inhalt der Geschichte. Auch der Schreibstil ist wirklich, wirklich gut. Teilweise gibt es einige Stellen, wo so gut wie keine Dialoge vorkamen (die habe ich auch mal übersprungen), da hat es sich etwas gezogen. Dennoch wollte ich das Buch nicht aus der Hand legen, einfach weil Thea Guanzons Art zu erzählen etwas sehr Besonderes an sich hat. „The Hurricane Wars“ ist ihr Debut — dennoch hat ihr Schreibstil schon jetzt einen Wiedererkennungswert. Zum Spannungsaufbau der Geschichte kann ich sagen, dass hier mMn noch etwas aufgebessert hätte werden können — vor allem was den Anfang der Geschichte angeht. Ich habe ja bereits erwähnt, dass sich die Story teilweise zieht, was um Teil auch an großem info dumping liegt. Dies ist besonders bei den ersten 70 Seiten der Fall. Für diese habe ich ungelogen drei Tage gebraucht, während ich die restlichen 500 Seiten in zwei Tagen gelesen habe. Wenn man so lange durchhält, dann lohnt es sich aber echt! Ab da nimmt die Spannung immer weiter zu, die Charaktere treffen immer öfter aufeinander und die Handlung nimmt ihren Lauf. Ich empfehle also, das Buch nur dann zu lesen, wenn man viel Zeit und Lust hat, damit man nicht Gefahr läuft, vor Seite 71 (oder so xD) abzubrechen. Talasyn als Prota hat mir sehr gefallen. Obgleich das Buch in der dritten Person Singular geschrieben ist, konnte ich gut mit ihr mitfühlen und habe keine Distanz zwischen mir als Leserin und den Figuren gespürt. An Talasyn mochte ich vor allem ihre Hartnäckigkeit, ihr Selbstbewusstsein, ihre Klugheit und ihre große Klappe. Sie lässt sich so leicht von Alaric provozieren; es war immer so lustig mit den beiden! Auch Alaric ist mMn ein sehr interessanter Charakter. Er hat wie Talasyn eine Hintergrundgeschichte, hat Kanten und Ecken und ist vielschichtig. Ich hoffe darauf, in Band 2 noch mehr über ihn zu lernen! Fazit: „The Hurricane Wars“ ist ein Buch mit Stärken und Schwächen. Ich bin echt hin- und hergerissen, da ich doch einige Kritikpunkte habe, es gleichzeitig aber einfach GELIEBT habe. Auf der einen Seite ist es (nach den 70 Seiten) super fesselnd, hat tolle Charas und einen brillanten Schreibstil. Auf der anderen Seite zieht es sich teilweise, es gibt zu Beginn viel info dumping und es ist schwer, reinzukommen. Ich gebe vier Sterne.
