Der 2. Teil der Reihe überzeugt mit einer noch intensiveren Entwicklung der Charaktere. Gansey kann ich immernoch nicht so ganz einordnen, aber das ist einfach Teil seines Charmes. Ich hatte mir gewünscht mehr über Ronan zu erfahren und dieser Wunsch wurde mir mehr als erfüllt. Ich glaube er ist mein liebster Charakter des Buches. Auch aus dem Haushalt von Blue erfährt man mehr, was mich glaublich gefreut hat. Nur leider kommt Blue selbst nicht mehr so häufig vor. Und wann geht es endlich bei ihr mal zur Sache? Unglaublich interessant fand ich auch den „Gray Man“, der sehr facettenreich ist und den ich auch jetzt noch nicht einschätzen kann. Ich bin gespannt, was mit ihm in den nächsten Teilen noch passieren wird. Wie man wohl merkt, ist das Buch immernoch sehr Charakter getrieben. Das ist durchaus nichts Schlechtes, aber die Story leidet. Der Schreibstil ist zwar wie immer der Hammer, aber die Szenen wirken teilweise wirr, abgehackt und nicht ganz zu Ende gedacht. So konnte man auch in diesem Buch keinen roten Faden erkennen und insgesamt passiert auf 450 Seiten nicht viel.

4,5⭐️ “The Raven Boys” hat mein Herz im Sturm erobert, und so blieb es außer Frage, beinahe im direkten Anschluss mit dem zweiten Teil der Raven-Cycle-Reihe weiter zu machen und zu erfahren, wie es mit den Charakteren weiter geht - vor allem, da am Ende ein ziemlich spannendes Geheimnis einige Fragen aufgeworfen hat. Und auch dieser Band hat wieder alles, was mich so begeistert nach dem ersten Teil zurück gelassen hat: Einen unfassbar schönen und zugleich klugen Schreibstil, eine unheimliche und zugleich magische Atmosphäre, ganz besondere und tiefgründig ausgearbeitete Charaktere und eine Lovestory, die sich eher im Hintergrund abspielt und ganz zaghaft wächst. Es ist so schwer zu beschreiben, aber in diesem Buch fühlt sich alles so wahnsinnig ECHT und real an! Trotzdem, und ich kann gar nicht genau festmachen, woran das liegt, hat mich dieses Buch im Vergleich zu seinem Vorgänger nicht so heftig gepackt und gefesselt - wahnsinnig gern gelesen habe ich es aber trotzdem! Besonders mochte ich in “The Dream Thieves”, dass wir einen tieferen Einblick in Ronans Gedankenwelt und seine Gefühle bekommen haben - etwas, das mich nach Band 1 besonders interessiert hat. Und mein zweites Highlight: Die Träume, die das Grundthema dieses Buchs sind und so so inspirierend ausgearbeitet wurden. Ich freue mich schon darauf, zu erfahren, wie es im nächsten Buch weiter geht!

Something new for every night.”</i></b></blockquote> I enjoyed this book WAY more than I did the first one, although I felt like this was separate from the main series - I doesn't really follow directly the plot set in "The Raven Boys" and it suffers a bit from the middle book syndrome in the way that it's more of a development book and doesn't move the plot along. It's a Ronan focused book and, to my surprise, since he was one of my least favorite characters, I found myself enjoying his parts and wanting to know more about him and his secrets. It was one of the things I wanted the author to explore more after the first installment and she did exactly that! He turned out to be a more complex and layered character than I first thought and now he's one of my favorites, along with Noah, who is such a ray of sunshine it's impossible to dislike him, and Adam, who also got a major development in this book. Still, I can't quite understand his hatred for his brother...it's the only thing that felt off. Like I said, I love Adam and his arc during this novel and how he grows and starts to realize who he is and what his role in everything is. And I like how Blue's mom and her sisters have a role in that - their scenes are always super entertaining and I like how they fit in the plot and how their individual arc is developed, especially Maura and Persephone. Blue, unfortunately, was irritating and seemed more immature and less sensible than she did in The Raven Boys, which made me like her character a lot. I was glad she was not the main focus of this book, and honestly, the whole 'I can't kiss my first love or he'll die'' debacle is starting to irritate me. Gansey is still my favorite character - he doesn't have any real motivation and comes across only as this spoiled rich kid who wants things his way always. The only disappointing thing in this novel, though, was the plot twists. I'm still waiting for one that I haven't predicted a couple of pages before. It didn't surprise me at all, though they were good and were necessary to the story. Still, this was, in my opinion, a better, more solid and interesting book than the first one in the series and it actually left another good hook for the third installment, which I'll begin right away!
